Abstract Adsorption of hydrocarbon pollutents ( Ethanol and Butanol ) by activated carbon had been investigated using a fixed bed column . A wide range of concentration ( 25 × 10³ - 100x10³ kg / m³ ) were studied . The dynamic behavior of the bed adsorber was studied by created a step change in the feed concentration of ( 20 % ) and step change in the feed flow rate of ( 10 % ) . A frequency response analysis was carried out using bode diagram , the technique log modulus and the phase angle were used to analysis the process model . A matlab program was used to study the dynamic model of adsorber to predict the transient responses , it is also used to find the frequency response analysis using experimental data . The deviation between theoretical and experimental is agreement .
